Runt

She was born in the night- a dark and stormy night, in fact. At the time we thought it was cute to call the little puppy lumps by their most distinguished marking. We didn’t like the idea of putting collars or string on newborn babies, so we determined who they were by sight alone. This little puppy was, you guessed it, the Runt!

She was so small! We actually were worried she wouldn’t survive. We took to giving her extra feedings throughout the day, hand-feeding her with a teeny tiny baby bottle. Well, we don’t know if she wouldn’t have made it without our help, but she did eventually put on weight and thrive!

It was such a relief to finally know that she was healthy! She was still much smaller than her siblings though. We couldn’t get over how teeny she was!

As a healthy pup, she quickly started showing her personality- she was a spitfire! She didn’t let her big (and we do mean big compared to her!) big brothers pick on her! She didn’t let her small size stop her!

A beautiful family fell in love with her and took her home. They renamed our little Runt “Daisy”. Daisy is still top dog! She loves nothing more than to wrestle with her pack-mate.

We are always so struck by how much she looks like her mama- she’s almost the spitting image of Luna! We’re so glad little Runt, excuse me, I mean Daisy, found such a sweet home.
