Everest

She was loved before she was even born. Once we found out her mama was expecting babies, Kayla was already hooked. She went to sleep each night thinking, “Everest is safe and warm in her mama’s tummy.”

It was the longest two months of Kayla’s life. But, finally, finally, after demanding daily pictures from Everest’s breeder, insisting on live-streaming Everest’s first steps, and posting incessantly on her personal social media page….Everest was ready to come home.

She was worth the wait.

But Luna wasn’t exactly thrilled to have to compete for Kayla’s attention.

And so Kayla’s social media flood of Everest pictures continued…

Because she was the cutest puppy…

…IN THE WORLD.

Well, she grew and grew, and she only got cuter.

She became Kayla’s Emotional Support Animal, and took her job very seriously. She is still, two and a half years later, Kayla’s shadow and companion in all things… Especially car rides- where she rides on Kayla’s shoulders like a little puppy parrot.

She makes beautiful ruby and blenheim puppies who are just as playful and loving as she is! She is the best mama- she keeps her babies clean and warm and well fed and she gets a little worried when anyone, even Kayla, pick the babies up. She firmly believes they belong safe and sound on the ground! We love our Everest-Mama!

—In Memoriam—

Tragically our beautiful ruby jewel passed away in a hit-and-run car accident in March of 2021. Kayla was absolutely devastated, and all of us here at Castle Grogan have been mourning her ever since.

On her last day she watched Kayla put on her workout clothes and tennis shoes- which she knew meant she was about to get to go to the Dog Park she loved so much. She danced and twirled all around Kayla and did her excited bark, which sounded like, “Ah-roo-roo-roo-roo!” Kayla treasures this memory- knowing that Everest Rain experienced that full-body joy and excitement one last time.
