We had a nice clean box set up for her to whelp in, but Luna wanted to whelp under the blue East Texas sky. She scratched at the door so we let her out for what we thought was a quick potty break before the work started, but in the blink of an eye she was popping out puppies!
Luna likes to walk through her contractions, so she took a few laps around the yard (us human folk always a good 10 or 15 feet behind her, watching but not wanting to interfere!) and, whoops! Here was baby number two by a blooming purple Iris! Our tricolor little girl, named Iris after the flower she was born beside, had made her entrance.
